Painted headpot from the Campbell Site, 23PM5 in Pemiscot County, Missouri. It is 6 1/4 inches tall. From the collection of Dr. James F. Cherry. Photo by Tony Clinton. Special notice: Dr. Cherry is doing research on headpots. There are several vessels out there that he would like to photograph. These include one from B.W. Stephens original collection, a Kent Patterson-Galen Irwin heavily restored headpot, a Byron Knoblock damaged headpot that he acquired from the Field Museum in Chicago (in 1983 he sold it and couldn't remember who he sold it to) and a couple that he heard about from reliable sources that have just dropped out of sight. Dr. Cherry is interested in doing research on these heatpots. To date, 135 headpots are in his data base. Dr. Cherry invites any CSAS members to contact him if they have a headpot and would like it included in the research project. His address is on the last page of the journal or you can reach him though the CSAS website. |
